Delaforce Alvarinho

This is the first Alvarinho varietal planted in the Douro region. The grapes are crushed in a pneumatic press and the fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature.

Background The history of the Delaforce family has been associated with the famous Douro valley for more than 175 years, making the Delaforce brand one of the most recognised Ports around the world. Real Companhia Velha, the current owner of the brand, is the major vineyard proprietor in the Douro valley with 550 ha and two of its premium vineyards - Aciprestes and CidrÙ have been selected to provide the grapes for this new and exciting Delaforce project of marketing world-class Douro wines alongside Port. Wine selection and marketing strategy has been defined by David Delaforce, formerly Managing Director and strategy leader for Delaforce, together with Pedro Silva Reis, Chairman of Real Companhia Velha.
The concept The range consists of one Alvarinho and four Douro red wines. Each one has been selected for its individuality and unique style. The wines show very good fruit, richness of flavours, soft tannins and are very well balanced in their structure. The packaging reflects the ambition of the project - modern, clean, informative enough, yet consumer friendly, premium appeal and most importantly, high quality perception.
The Brand The Delaforce Wine Collection is aimed to position itself in the market as the first Portuguese offer in recent times of a truly branded premium Portuguese wine, by marketing a recognisable brand name widely known in the trade, enjoying awarenses and quality perception at consumer level.
